In this work you have created a sorrow so dense that even time gets caught in it. From the swirling Van Gogh brushstrokes of the storm sky to the Magritte-like whale above the yellow shore, from the flying village out of Chagall to the surreal flower platform à la Dalí — you led us through the entire twentieth century of painting, Riiz, and yet nowhere did I feel a quotation for quotation's sake.
