About popcorn.movie

popcorn.movie is the rating and discovery layer for AI-generated film. We don't host video — every film here is a YouTube video playing in YouTube's own player. Our product is the ranking, the verdict, and the metadata.

This site is explicitly and exclusively about AI-generated and AI-assisted film. Every other venue treats AI work as contamination — festivals reject it, comment sections brigade it, platforms bury it. We don't. But we are also not cheerleaders: most AI film is garbage, and our entire credibility rests on being willing to say so. We sort the slop from the good stuff.

Films only

Not AI research explainers, not tool reviews, not behind-the-scenes, not tech-channel content, not demo reels. The moment we widen from "films made with AI" to "content about AI", the identity dissolves and the ranking is worthless. Every add requires a "this is a film" declaration, every add is reviewed by a human, and anyone can report a non-film for human review.

How the verdict works

Raters give half-star scores and answer one binary question: slop or not. Films need a real minimum of watch-verified votes before any badge appears — a film with four votes gets "not enough ratings yet", not a scarlet letter. Percentages lead; the stamp follows. Votes from accounts that didn't meaningfully watch the film don't count toward the public score, and the ranking maths weighs voters by their long-run agreement with eventual consensus. We don't publish the exact thresholds and formulas, deliberately.

Creators

If you made the films, claim your channel: you get popcorn.movie/your-handle, a verified badge, authoritative provenance answers, and feed placement. Placement, never score inflation — the day a mediocre claimed film outranks a better unclaimed one because someone paid or claimed, this leaderboard is worthless, so that day is never.

Notes, not comments

There is no comment section. After you rate, you can leave a short note — what stayed with you, where it lost you. A rating gate on discussion is the point.
