Why no AI film has passed the Popcorn Test yet

There is a badge on this site that no film has earned yet. Fresh and Hot. The empty shelf is not a bug. It is the whole point.

Here is what it takes. Your vote only counts after you have watched a real chunk of the film, and the site checks that against actual playback, not a checkbox. Votes from brand new accounts count for less until the account has a track record. And a film needs a real minimum of counted votes before any badge appears at all, in either direction. Under that bar it says 'not enough ratings yet', which is the truth.

Stars work the same way. A film's displayed score is pulled toward the site average until enough votes come in, so one generous friend cannot put anything at five stars on day one. The raw average sits right next to the adjusted one, in a darker gold, so you can see both.

This is why user ratings for generative cinema mean something here and mean nothing on a like counter. A like takes half a second and no watching. A counted vote here took someone minutes of their life first.

A few films have their first counted votes in: The Museum, The Last Land and Life Is Better all sit at 100 percent fresh from their early raters. None has reached the vote minimum. One of them will get there first, and when it does, the badge will actually mean what it says.
